Finding the Right Attitude
Contestants running for Miss Tokelau 2012 Pageant will need to bring more than just a beautiful face come competition time.
This year’s Miss Tokelau Pageant will be introducing new activities into the event to which the Fatupaepae hope will find the best representative for Tokelau to participate in the Miss South Pacific Pageant 2012.
According to the Miss Tokelau Pageant Coordinator, Lihe Suveinakama the new activity will help the contestants prepare well for the pageant night and especially as contestants they would take back with them a valuable and a memorable experience that would contribute to moulding and building their attitude as young tautiti hence grow up to be strong leaders of our communities in Tokelau.
“We are looking at introducing a pre-pageant interview which will take place before the actual event. We seek to have them prepare for when they get up on stage and also get more clarity to have the right response and speaking from their heart – ask them the question and they’ll come back with a knowledgeable response.
“We want the girls to perform and perform at their best. We want them to have the right attitude. That willingness to want to be involved and committing to wanting to learn and achieve – that’s the purpose of these activities. We want them to have the heart and mind, the right attitude so when they have their presentation people can see it and will know a bit more of their personalities, their way of thinking and more importantly finding and identifying “the one” to best represent Tokelau.”

“The pageant will be held during the General Fono in October. The judging criteria are the same as the Miss South Pacific Pageant – the sarong, tradition wear, talent and the interview plus the pre-pageant interview.
Hiniva Foua is currently the reigning Miss Tokelau and hope to hand over to one of three contestants running for the 2012-2013 crown.
Fourth Miss Tokelau Pageant will be hosted by Atafu and the winning contestant will represent Tokelau at the Miss South Pacific Pageant 2012 in Pago Pago, American Samoa.
