ANZ Chief paints banking picture

Sinalei, Samoa 5 August 2014
Mr Matthew Fisher (CEO, ANZ Samoa) hosted the business and diplomatic community at an exclusive function in Sinalei resort last night. This was to welcome Mr Mike Smith, ANZ Chief Executive Officer who has been visiting ANZ offices in the Pacific region.

ANZ is Tokelau's major banking partner in Samoa. Mr Smith took the opportunity to describe the global financial outlook highlighting the:
  • continuing strength of the American economy
  • current challenges with a bipolar European situation
  • influential Asian markets.
He further emphasised that it is no surprise that political will and commitment does lead to a more healthy looking economy.

Mr Smith is next travelling to Fiji before heading off for New Caledonia and then back to Australia. The function provided an opportunity for open dialogue and discussions for the attendees with the bank's executives here in Samoa and the region.
