The Ulu o Tokelau and Tokelau’s Minister of Education are champions of efforts to improve the quality of education. The Minister said:  “Tokelau needs to focus effort initially on improving early childhood education and lifting literacy and numeracy achievement in the early years of schooling by increasing the effectiveness of teachers and professional leadership of schools.”  The Ulu noted that: “Earlier this year the villages and General Fono of Tokelau committed to major changes to how schools are governed and budgeted more for education. They took the first steps on this journey and are leading the way.”
Massey was selected through an international tender for the relevance of their expertise in educational development. Individuals with significant school leadership and teacher professional development are now working alongside teachers and principals on atoll.
