16 March 2015

Award-winning New Zealand company PowerSmart has emerged as the winner of the competitive tendering process to provide maintenance services to Tokelau’s solar energy system. The contract will cover a three-year period from 2015 to 2017.

PowerSmart will provide a range of services, including onsite and remote support plus training of local staff in data collection, monitoring and reporting on systems performance.

PowerSmart was the main technical partner in the construction of Tokelau’s Renewable Energy system, which began in 2008. This project led to the design and installation of the largest off-grid solar system in the Pacific region, and one of the largest in the world, with an operating system of 4,032 solar panels and 1,344 solar batteries.
