Work on Demolishing of Tokelau Buildings in Samoa up for tender

30 March 2015

Tokelau Liaison Office in Apia (TALO) building located at Savalolo, opposite the St Mary’s Primary School, and main building at the Lelata compound would soon be gone with General Fono approving funding for the go ahead of the demolition work, now up for tender.

The decision by Council for the Ongoing Government of Tokelau to demolish and relocate the main office in Apia came after Cyclone Evans struck Samoa back in December of 2012. The building was badly damage, along with very important documents due to flooding and severe winds.  The environment was found to be unhealthy and unsafe for the entire Tokelau base Public Servants (TPS) to work in.

The tendering bids for the demolition work closes on the 31st of March 2015 and work is expected to be completed by the end of April.

The Apia base Office is now located at the first floor of the Samoa National Provident Fund Plaza building in Apia. Transport shipping operation is currently being carried out from Savalalo with cargo being stored at the warehouse.
