Tokelau’s Renewable Energy Project Shared at the PCCR Meeting in Samoa

Tokelau’s story of becoming the first 100% Renewable Energy supplied nation in the world was shared at Pacific Climate Change Roundtable (PCCR) meeting at the Tanoa Tusitala Hotel conference room, Apia, Samoa.
 
General Manager, Mr Jovilisi Suveinakama on behalf of the Government highlighted the nation’s challenges and experiences in its eight years journey during his presentation yesterday.
 
Jovilisi highlighted the challenges faced by the country in accessing funding due to its status as a territory. He also stressed the importance of best business practise in appropriately accessing the funds from donors.
 
 He also expressed how successful the project is, through the determination of the nation behind completing the project, and sustaining demand through management to allow for a better quality of life.
 
Sharing Tokelau’s experiences in its renewable energy is intended for others to note the best approach to addressing similar projects.
