General Manager – Tokelau Telecommunication Corporation (Teletok)

The Tokelau Telecommunication Corporation (Teletok) is the sole provider of telecommunication
services in Tokelau. The Teletok Board (the Council for the Ongoing Government of Tokelau) issue
the general direction and management of the affairs of the Corporation.

The General Manager, Teletok (“GM, Teletok”) is appointed by the Board. We invite applications from
suitably qualified and experience candidates to the GM, Teletok position who is responsible to the
Board for the proper administration and management of the functions and affairs of the Corporation
in accordance with the policy laid down by the Board. This is a 3-year contract position. The
successful applicant shall be based on Fakaofo where the Teletok Main Office is located.


The main duties and responsibilities of the position include:

• Oversee the operations including financial accountabilities of the Corporation
• Prepare and submit Corporation Annual Report including Financial Statement of that year to the Board
• Lead and manage the institutional capacity development of the Corporation
• Manage the Corporation Work-Force Planning and Management
• Other activities instructed by the General Fono and/or Minister for Telecommunication


The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate they meet the following key selection criteria:

• A degree (preferably post-graduate level) in Information and Communications Technology or a relevant field.
• At least 5-year experience at senior level management in information technology and telecommunication.
• Experience in a leadership role in the information technology and telecommunication sector.
• Excellent knowledge and understanding of small island IT and telecommunication systems like Tokelau.
• A strategic thinker with relevant budget management experience.
• Highly developed leadership skills with the ability to lead a team towards goal achievement.
• Ability and confidence to establish and maintain excellent working relationship with local and international stakeholders
• Proven high standard of written and oral communication in English (Tokelauan desirable).
• Awareness of the Tokelau culture with the ability to operate effectively within that cultural context without compromising the remit of the role.

The successful candidate will be contracted for three years. The remuneration package will be in
accordance with the TPS Remuneration Framework.
