Tourism in Tokelau

Tokelau has no established tourist industry at present.  Most visitors are Tokelauans or Tokelaun descendants visiting from New Zealand, Australia and Hawaii. 

Transport

Transport to and from Tokelau is by sea on fortnightly boat services from the closest port in Apia, Samoa.  The boat travels to all three atolls, taking approximately 27 hours to reach the southern most atoll of Fakaofo.  It is a further 3 and a half hours from Fakaofo to Nukunonu and a further 6 hours to the northern most atoll of Atafu.

Accommodation

Tokelau has one established guesthouse, the Luanaliki in Nukunonu.  Other accommodation is provided on a private basis in people's homes.  Accommodation and transport enquiries can be directed to the Department of Transport and Support Services in Apia (ph: +685 20 822).
