Searching for the National Anthem, Symbol and Flag of Tokelau

These are historical times for the three atolls and people of Tokelau. It is birthing time for our nation, nationhood forming visibly just over the horizon.

This is also a time for the people of Tokelau to be involved, a once in a lifetime opportunity presents itself, for us to fashion and dress our nation before we formally present ourselves to the international community when we decide to make that decision to be a self-governing people and nation.

If you would like to be involved or considered as a person or group to design the National Symbol and Flag; and compose the National Anthem now is the time.

To all those interested: this is an official notice to submit entries to the three areas above. The main criteria are:

1. A concept that is unique to Tokelau;
2. Enshrines Tokelaus history, present and future; and
3. Meaningful and a source of inspiration for the people of Tokelau around the world and in Tokelau.

All entries for submission must include a full explanation of the design and clearly state the particulars of the person(s) sending the design and national anthem (lyrics only). Entries must be received by the Tokelau Affairs Liaison Office by Friday, 15 October 2004 to the following address.

The successful entries will be awarded special gifts and prizes. This includes cash prizes of NZ$1,000 each for the Flag and National Anthem category; while the National Symbol has been allocated a cash prize of NZ$500.
