The Tokelau Government invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced applicants to the
position of Director of Transport and Support Services. The successful applicant will be responsible for
the overall leadership, management, provision of strategic advice to the Minister of Transport and Minister
of Support Services, guidance and implementation of safe, reliable and efficient transportation and
support services.
The duties and responsibilities of the position include:
- Lead the improvement of transport and support services and maintaining high standard of services
- Provide strategic advice to the leaders of Tokelau on transport and support services matters
- Manage key relationship with external organisations and local stakeholders
- Manage the department staff and budget and ensure the provision of quality services by the department
The successful candidate must have the following required experience and skills:
- A degree (preferably at post-graduate level) in the related fields from a recognized institution
- At least 5-year experience at senior level management with demonstrated knowledge and understanding in transport and shipping services, and at least one other function of the department
- Demonstrated leadership, and proven knowledge and experience of the transport and shipping industry in the region
- Ability and confidence to establish and maintain excellent work relationship with local and international stakeholders
- An effective team player, consultative with highly developed planning and organization skills and proven ability to consistently deliver results within budget
- Demonstrated strategic think with the ability to interface the Tokelau Strategic direction with Transport, Shipping and Support Services
- Awareness of the Tokelau culture and willingness to live in an isolated, island community
The successful candidate will be contracted for three years. Salary will be based on the Tokelau Public
Service Remuneration Framework. The position is based in Apia but it may relocate to Tokelau in the
future.
