Our Education Strategic Goal 2 is Strengthen Health and Wellbeing through raising a
healthier, safer and well generation, that contributes to strong and sustainable communities.
Our national Health Promoting School (HPS) initiative focuses on the impact of the school
environment, and organisational systems on health. It supports schools to put in place basic
essential strategies for enhancing the health of the school community. It is aimed at
enriching students’ and their families’ health and lifestyles as well as staff.
A cross-sectoral approach, and active partnerships particularly between departments of
health and education is needed to create an environment where health is promoted and
protected at schools. Other important partners are the Fatupaepae, Parents, Departments
of Environment, Climate Change and Education Committees.
Applications are invited for a qualified and experienced person to lead, facilitate and
coordinate effectively the initiatives and strategies to achieve the expected outcomes.
Key Areas of Responsibility
1. Lead the situational analysis, review, design and implementation of the Health PE and
2. Facilitate and lead processes supporting school communities to improve child and youth
well being for successful learning through adopting the Health Promoting Schools
3. Lead and coordinate processes promoting more inclusive and sustainable growth for
children and students living with disabilities through social protection mechanisms
The position is contracted for 3 years and will be based at one of the schools on Tokelau.
